I need a plugin for firefox, like "noscript".

Except, instead of blocking scripts from everywhere by default, I want it to *allow* scripts by default, and block them only from a specific site.

Ideas?

Have you checked through the Greasemonkey community?

NoScript is GPL'd, so you can monkey with the source. Maybe you can just invert the whitelist into a blacklist?

Okay, found it: yesscript (instead of noscript).

Works like a charm.

Now.. how about a similar plug-in to selectively block specific URLs? You'd think Adblock+ could do this, but it cannot.

Adblock does that for me? I've used it to block a specific JPG and specific Javascript files.

See.. adblock+ blocks other stuff from the same site. If I tell adblock+ to not do that ("whitelist"), then it blocks NOTHING.

It seems to lack a way to block just one specific .jpg.

When I right click an image and then select Adblock Image, the first option is a complete URL including filename and it only blocks that specific file. Other files on the site don't get affected.

I think I know what you mean now. The site you want is normally blocked by the Adblock filters and you want to whitelist the site but only block a specific image? In that case then I don't think it'd do what you mean.

Yup, that's the problem. So I need an opt-in version of Adblock+, similar to how yesscript is the opposite of noscript.

The site in question is http://www.digitalhome.ca, which is run by an obsessive nanny type from Toronto. Yesterday, he installed a scripting system to prevent viewing of the forum posts by anyone using Firefox/Adblock+, in a rude attempt to piss off his content creators (users).

So, now I whitelist the site in Adblock+, and use yesscript to get rid of his incredibly annoying flash adverts. But there's still one small image advert I'd like to nuke.

The site has the forum thread inside a massive div called Ad1 which is why it disappears when Adblock is enabled. I thought you could make it whitelist that specific site and that specific div but it doesn't seem to do it for me when I tried. Hmm...

Load the page with Adblock+ enabled. Right-click on the ABP icon and select "Open blockable items". Find "###Ad1", right-click on it, and select "Disable filter ###Ad1". Now right-click on the ABP icon again and select "Preferences". In the new dialog, click "Add filter". Enter this filter: "~digitalhome.ca###Ad1".

What all of this does is disable the filter that's matching the content on your web site, then re-add the same filter, except telling it to do it everywhere except digitalhome.ca.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that Adblock supports element exception rules.
